Welcome to my Homepage!

On this homepage you will find information about my Soft- and Hardwareprojects for several computer systems. The navigation bars on the left and top will bring you directly to the different topics. The language selection between German and English is done automatically if your browser is properly configured; should you prefer another language, please click on the desired flag on the top-right.

Please also sign my Guestbook. Accolade and criticism is highly welcome. I will try to improve the content of this homepage according your suggestions. I would be also happy to get feedback regarding my projects - what do you like/dislike and what do you want to see in the future?

But now I wish you much fun by searching about these pages!

Stefan Robl

Completely rewritten homepage is now online
qdev.de alt After almost 4 years it was time for a completely redesigned homepage. As "memory" to the old page you can have a look at the old main page on the left (click to enlarge). The old design had too much restrictions if it came to external links, multi-language support, etc. Besides that, the old homepage was hostet on a server which didn't allow to run custom scripts. This was the reason why I had to use a external guestbook (including ad banners...) and external counters.

These and other problems now belong to history!
All pages are now hostet on a big bundle of puretec, which does provide beside a lot of storage space nice features like custom scripts/CGIs and also database-access. On this platform it was possible to establish the new design.

I was asked again and again to also provide a German version of my hompage. Now I have decided to provide the whole content in two languages (Germand and English). The needed effort for translation was tremendous. The new homepage identifies your preferred language on your browser's language setting and displays all pages accordingly. Should you want to change the language, then just klick on corresponding flag on the top right.

With the new design all problems with external links are finally solved. In the past, external links propably pointed to sub-pages; because of this, the navigation-bars were suppressed - the main pages were not reachable easily. Because I wanted to avoid JavaScript for compability, there was no suitable solution for the old homepage. The new design - made completely without frames - allows a correct display.

Speaking of compability: The new homepage was tested on all reachable browsers (running on AmigaOS, MacOS, Windows, Linux, QNX, WindowsCE) and displayed correctly. This is possible, because I consequently avoided to use CSS, JavaScript, Java-Navigation-Applets or Browser-proprietary features.

All former external tools like the guestbook and counters are now running directly on qdev.de - the response time improved and I could eliminate all ads of external companies by doing so.

The page content has been extended drastically; a lot of sub-pages were added to the categories Amiga and Electronics. The different sub-pages were also re-layouted. A summary of all changes would be too long. Searching about these new pages is surely not wrong...

But now have a lot of fun with the new qdev.de!

PS: If someone finds typos or errors in the content, then I would be happy to get a short notification!

Studies finished (the first one)!
Today I got my diploma - I now have successfully finished my studies of Computer Science at the Fachhochschule Regensburg!
But as you may know, I'm some sort of crazy: my next goal is to study Physics at the University of Regensburg. Physics was and is very interesting to me and as this is propably the last chance in my life to study physics, I decided to do it... :)

ExifRenamer V1.3 released
Version 1.3 of ExifRenamer contains a cuple of smaller bug fixes. It now has Dutch localization added and supports TIFF files. Furtheron, ExifRenamer is now capable to rename raw (.crw) pictures when there exists a .thm file (for example Canon D30). It now also supports high-speed cameras which are capable of taking several photos within one second.

Current status
At the moment, I'm finishing my studies and besides that, I do a lot of stuff. The most important thing is my work in the AmigaOS4 development team. Then, I do again some ColdFire related stuff and improve also some other software available from me. Prepare yourself on updates of BDMDebug, DPMSManager and ExifRenamer (perhaps other stuff will come along, too.). I'm also working on some nice Mac OS X related things. It is to early to tell you any detaily on this, though. More to come withing the next weeks.

The first Euro money in my hands!
Euro coins
Even if I have not time for providing something thrilling new, I wanted to note this (Ok, it is a bit off-topic but still interesting). As the currency changeover on 2002-01-01 will bring to all Euro-supporting states the new currency "Euro" ( € ), the banks offered a first "Starter Kit" for the people to get accustomed to this new currency. The Starter Kit contains coins of the value €10.23 (equally to DM 20). Quite fascinating to have a totally new currency in two weeks...

CasioRenamer V1.0 released
Some weeks ago, I wrote a little tool which is able to rename digital photos by its embedded date informations to avoid naming styles like "pic0001.jpg". This program names the pictures after their time information in the style "YYYY-MM-DD_hh-mm-ss.jpg". I decided that this program could be useful for some other users, too. Amiga-Users can use for this purpose my AmiCamedia program, available at Haage&Partner.
CasioRenamer was written for Mac OS X 10.1

Amiga-Users: Please don't think that I will stop development for AmigaOS! I'm just rather busy at the moment (diploma thesis!) and have no time for larger projects. My current plans are also targetted at the next-generation Amigas (AmigaOne/Pegasos) using high-speed G3/G4 CPUs. More to come. :-)
